Acute gut GVHD can cause symptoms of diarrhoea, abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea and loss of appetitie. 

Chronic gut GVHD can cause

  • chronic diarrhoea
  • difficulty swallowing
  • sore dry mouth
  • infections/cold sores
  • pain and irritation from spicy/acidic foods
  • loss of appetite and weight loss
  • bloating
  • stomach cramps
  • malabsorption

There are various treatments available depending on which symptoms you have but you can help yourself by:

  • keeping your fluid intake up
  • telling your clinical team if you are having problems.
